The Carolinian Board of Trustees held its first out-of-town meeting in Surigao City 27 January 2008, with co-member and city Mayor Alfonso Casurra serving as host.
Casurra, who was honored as one of the Most Outstanding Alumni in 2005, finished Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science in USC. He serves as adviser to Carolinians in Surigao, Inc., one of the most active provincial groups of Carolinian graduates. It is led by President Jeanit Chua-Besinga.
The seven visiting Trustees included President April May Tudtud-Ramos, Vice-President (international) Efren Flaminia, Vice-President (national) Engr. Christine Gohetia, Secretary Lynde Lachica, Treasurer Atit Wong-Marcon, Auditor Jovita Augusto and Projects Chair Dr. Val Espina.
The officers’ boat trip was sponsored by Cokaliong Shipping Lines, whose owner, Chester Cokaliong, was also a recipient of the Most Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2004. Through the Edward Cokaliong Foundation, the shipping company has been providing scholarships to deserving students in USC.
